Hello my lovelies,
The time has come to embrace 90 degree temperatures, sunny skies, summer storms, soul crushing humidity, free concerts, outdoor film screenings, food crawls, and all that makes these next few months the highlight of my year. It is therefore my pleasure to bring to you the 2011 edition of Summer in the City.
Following a 12 mos hiatus as I came to terms with my new surroundings south of the Mason Dixon, I am more amped than ever to bring you this year’s calendar of summer fieldtrips and adventures.
In attempt to recapture the glory days of 2010’s 31 Day’s D’Art, this year’s calendar will also act as a fundraiser in support of my charity of choice Art for Change (AfC). It is my hope that with your support and that of your friends and neighbors we can raise $2,000 over the next 3 mos in support of AfC’s mission of supporting social change through art.
3 mos, $2,000 . . . has she lost her mind . . . in this economy . . . perhaps. But if you break it down that’s $40 from 50 ppl or $20 from 100 pppl, and if I were to be so bold . . . $10 from 200ppl over a 3 mos period . . . If you can’t dream big, why bother to dream at all. But I believe I can do it, as I believe in this small not-for-profit which strives to bring art, culture and a socially conscious voice to Spanish Harlem.
I hope that over the next couple of months as you check-in to see what’s going on in the world, you’ll also support me in supporting Art for Change by making a contribution. Because small or large every gift makes a difference.
I’ll be seeing you around town.
Much Love,
D
P.S. The calendar officially kicks off tomorrow, Monday, May 30, 2011
